CHANGES ----------------- Sell Nugget early on in Vermillion Sell All TMs in Celadon (Not a requirement in my route but is in Gunners) Sell All TMs in Fuchsia PROS ------------------ - Weepinbell > Gloom (No Moonlight OR Sleep Power from Weepinbell + easier to Weaken) - Vulpix > Growlithe (No Intimidate) - Grimer/Muk > Koffing/Weezing (No Explosion + Easier to Weaken)[Muk likely worth considering /w 62% Catch at 20% HP] - Slowbro > Golduck (Way easier to Weaken Slowbro to a good catch rate) - Sandshrew Learns Cut + Strength [Can Skip Ch'Ding Trade and should save slight time using Fly on Ch'Ding instead of scrolling 1 input to avoid using Cut] - Ch'ding Skip is viable with Pidgey + Shrew (Maybe not worth if you catch Spearow first?) - Don't have to camp for Spearow if you get Sandshrew and a flier. This gives Spearow a big opportunity as a candy poke and won't be useless late game. - No Electabuzz encounter in Power Plant (Only 5% but still something) CONS ------------------ - Selling Nugget Early - Selling TMs (Don't need to do this in my route but is required in Gunners) - Can't Weaken Route 10 Sandshrew (Only important if you get Pika) - Psyduck > Slowpoke (Super Effective Text) - 15% to encounter Magneton instead of 10% at Power Plant MIDDLEGROUND ------------------ Expensive route, but faster to buy coins than to pick them up Sandshrew = Ekans (No Intimidate vs. Harder to Catch Early On) Sandslash = Arbok (No Intimidate vs. Harder to weaken to low HP) VERY BASIC TIMEING ------------------ LeafGreen +4.8 Sell Nugget Early +8.05 To sell all TMs 1st shop (Non Gunner Route doesn't need to) +3.07 To buy a 2nd batch of 500 coins +5.60 Sell more TMs Total = + 21.52 on average FireRed + 15.96 Grab the coins on the ground + 4 For every intimidate text Total = + 19.96 /w One Intimidate Things to Consider ??? Gloom vs. Weepinbell (Weepinbell 100% better) ??? Slowpoke vs. Psyduck (Slowpoke very slightly worse cause of SE Text) ??? Ekans vs. Sandshrew (Sandshrew slightly worse due to hard to weaken but intimidate also sucks) - 41.19 Ch'ding Skip CONCLUSION ------------------ The average time you spend catching stuff in LeafGreen looks really appealing due to the slight differences in catches /w version exclusives, no intimidate text/animation, and the option to go for Ch'Ding Skip if you deem it worthy. Overall though both routes have something going for them and I wanted to make this work for the folks that only have LeafGreen. Neither game really seems to be the wrong choice.
