Pokémon Red Any% Glitchless F.A.Q. Q: What are you trying to accomplish? A: I am trying to defeat the Elite Four as fast as possible. Q: What does "Any%" mean? A: "Any%" is the name of the category I am running. The goal is to complete the game as fast as possible. Although it isn't listed as "Glitchless", this run doesn't contain glitches. Q: What is the Best Time (BT) in this category? A: 2:05:14 in real time by ExarionU, on console. Q: What is your current Personal Best (PB)? A: None. Q: What is your goal? A: Unsure yet. I want to see if I like the category enough to grind it out a little bit. Q: How are you streaming/recording your runs? A: I use the following programs: > Twitch streaming: OBS Studio > Game-only capture: vMix > Timer: LiveSplit > Audio Timer: EonTimer I use the following hardware: > Capture card: GV-USB2 > Console: GameCube w/ Game Boy Player + Game Boy Interface > Controller: Wii-U Smash Controller Q: Why FireRed? Why not LeafGreen? A: In this category, version doesn't matter. I just happen to have FireRed. Q: Why do you name everything "A"? A: Naming commonly seen names one character saves frames throughout the entirety of the run. A is just the fastest character to select. Q: Which starter Pokémon do you select? A: I select Squirtle. Squirtle is *probably* the best choice to beat the game with. Q: Probably? A: Squirtle and Charmander have been competing with each other for fastest, but new strats gave Squirtle some free time save, so I'm opting for the turtle. Q: Why do you keep restarting? A: I probably didn't successfully manipulate my Squirtle. Q: Manipulation? A: The manipulation in this game sucks compared to other games I frequent. A list of Squirtles generates upon completion of naming my character, and this list is based off of my Trainer ID. I have to perform a frame perfect trick to get Squirtle. What sucks most about this is it's never the same Squirtle. Q: What are the stats you want for Squirtle? A: I want either a Modest, Mild or Rash nature, and I want a minimum of 28 IV Special Attack and 17 IV Speed. Q: What are IVs? A: IV stands for individual value. Each Pokemon has an IV ranging from 0 to 31 for each stat. The higher the IV, the higher the growth rate for that particular stat. Q: Why do you catch [insert Pokémon here]? A: Here is a basic rundown of the entire team: > Squirtle - Main Pokémon. Surf and Strength slave. > Pidgey/Spearow - Fly slave. > Rattata/Paras - Dig and Cut slave. Q: Why do you purposely take damage?/What are "Torrent strats"? A: Torrent is Squirtle's ability that activates once it has 1/3 of its total HP or less. It boosts water type moves by 50%, sometimes adding just enough to change the complexion of a fight. Q: What are the hardest fights? A: Hell if I know. Let's find out together.
