This is a simple FAQ for the Locked Path Tournament, the tournament pastebin can be found here: https://pastebin.com/bunRf7MV Q: What is the Goal? A: To beat the Kingdom Hearts II Randomizer on Critical difficult as fast as possible using the 'Path' hint system and 'World Locking'. The runners will need to find 3 proofs, then beat all of the World That Never Was including the final Xemnas fights. Q: What does the KHII Randomizer do? A: A lot so let's break it down: 1) Hub World - GoA Mod will make the game non-linear by making the game function as a 'Hub World' game, meaning runners can pick and choose where to go. 2) Randomize - Items, Abilities, Magics, Keyblades, Limits, Drive Forms, and so much more are randomized. Basically anything in the game that gives you something just as a chest or boss fight pop-up reward is randomized and a simple potion chest could become a magnet magic element for example. 3) Additional content - Adds additional content such as new keyblades. 4) QoL - There are many Quality of Life changes such as allowing Roxas to use magic. 5) Leveling - The EXP curves for both sora and drive forms are changed. So drive forms level up faster along with Sora. Also these settings will stop giving Sora 'important checks' after level 50. Note: Enemies and Bosses are NOT randomized for this tournament but they can be. Q: What is an 'Important Check'? A: An 'Check is any reward given in the randomizer, so an 'Important Check' is an important reward. Some rewards are so important to completing a run that the community has tagged them as important, such a Drive form. These checks are either so helpful in most situations or are used to progress the game. This tournament has 61 important checks and I will explain each now: - 13 Reports - These reports will give info to the runners to help them solve the seed - 18 Magics - Each magic has 3 levels and there are 6 different types of magic. Magic is very powerful in KHII so it's considered important. - 5 Drive Forms - Every drive form is very strong in the right condition so they are considered important. - Second Change and Once More - These are abilities that when equipped help you survive. Since crit difficulty can kill you in a few hits these are considered important. - 5 Torn Pages - Torn pages are used to progress the '100 Acre Woods' world thus they are important. - 4 Summons - Each summon can be useful during a run so they are considered important. - 11 World Items - These are used to unlock the second visits (or 2nd and 3rd for Twilight Town). - 3 Proofs - These are needed to complete the randomizer. Q: What is a 'Proof'? A: There are 3 proofs that runners need to find. The Proof of Connection (Key), The Proof of Nonexistence (Heatless), and the Proof of Peace (Mushroom). They are the silver orbs on the tracker and they are the most important thing to find in the run, since they are needed to challenge Final Xemnas in the randomizer. They can be anywhere! Q: Is everything randomized/What is turned off? A: Everything is completely randomized except: - Enemies - Bosses - Atlantica (No music minigames here) - Lingering Will (A very hard fight if you don't have the right tools) - Olympus Cups (Sorry Cups fans) - Puzzle Pieces - Synthesis Q: What is 'Path' Hints? A: Path is the most complicated hint system we have, but basically. A report will tell you if a World is on the path to a given proof. EX. Twilight Town is on the path to Peace. That means that anything important found in twilight town 'point' to where the proof of peace can be, but also where the proof of connection and nonexistence can NOT be. More info can be found here: https://tommadness.github.io/KH2Randomizer/hints/ Q: What is 'World Locking'? A: Every world that has a second of third visit in the base game has those sections Locked from the start, hence the locks on the trackers. Runners will need to find the needed World Key item to unlock those visits and the proofs can be anywhere within the worlds. Q: How do I read this tacker? A: Very simply put - The 'World' are at the top and the 'Checks' are at the bottom. As runners find important checks they will go to the 'World' they were found in the tracker. This will give runners info and knowledge, but also there is either a yellow or blue number next to each world. When the number turns blue the world has no more important checks left to be found. Q: Are there any resources on KHII Rando? A: Yes, check out https://kh2rando.com
