This is a proposed route for Gold any% glitchless. It requires manip. Choose Chikorita as your starter. Manip a L4 Geodude on Route 46. Teach Cut to Chikorita. Use Geodude through Burned Tower to release the legendary dogs. Catch a manipped dog (Raikou or Entei) with an LID manipped Master Ball. Beat the game. TO DO: - Selfdestruct death warp instead of Abra? Deathwarp was considered faster than Abra at one point, and it is better here than in the normal Toto route. Might want a flier other than Kenya so you can deathwarp without depositing. Could also manip Abra. - Entei with HP Rock might be fastest (11 turns saved + fewer heals + less risk + only shop at Goldenrod Mart 1 + better PP management) Gold-specific time saves are: - Can catch L4 Geodude on Route 46 instead of L3 (saves a minute over Crystal) - Must fight Albert; Geodude 2-turns this fight - Can skip Ralph and early wild experience - Must fight Vulpix guy; Geodude OHKOs - Because of required fights early, Geodude can outspeed or tie 6 Pokemon that it wouldn't in Crystal (Zubat, Rattata, Zubat, Zubat, Koffing, Ledyba) - Can Selfdestruct on Miltank if you do early underground to get L21 - Deathwarp with Selfdestruct instead of Abra? Would be unable to Selfdestruct on Miltank, but could die instantly in a fight - Burned Tower fights are faster with Geodude (5-6 turns on rival with low risk, 1.5 turns on Charmeleon) Gold-specific time losses are: - No X Acc in Burned Tower (better for top-end Falkner; worse on average) - Must fight Russell (5 turns vs. Toto's 3, and must teach Mud-Slap) - No time save from skipping Bill - Azalea Gym time save vs. Toto is less than in Crystal because Toto fights Paras normally - If you do early underground, Geodude loses time on Slowpokes (Magnitude 4-6 doesn't kill) - Legendary dogs detour (4-5 minutes with Toto, 3:30-4:30 with Geodude?)
