Pokemon Ultra Moon Speedrunning FAQ

Q: What are you playing on?
A: Both a Modified Nintendo 2DS XL and an original 3DS with a capture card built into it.
 
Q: What are you trying to do?
A: Beat Pokemon Ultra Moon as fast as Possible

Q: Which version is fastest?
A: No idea.

Q: Why Ultra Moon instead of Sun?
A: The Normal and boss gauntlet after the fairy trial are easier with Hawlucha, as well as the fights against Poipole being easier since X Special Defense is used instead of X Defense.

Q: How do you you deal with Necrozma? Doesn't Hawlucha get one shot?

Q: Why is the time set to 9 AM?
A: To avoid hail before the Pokemon League, otherwise nothing of significance is set on time.

Q: Who is the fastest Pokemon for the speedrun?
A: Hawlucha is most likely the fastest between him and the Primerina Route.

Q: Why are the stats at the top of the screen always 31 Attack and Brave Nature?
A: Those are Hawlucha stats. They are always guaranteed to be Brave and 31 IV Attack.

Q: Wait, why did you skip Flynium-Z?
A: After some extensive timing, I have found Flynium-Z to be about 36 seconds slower thus far. More testing will be done soon but it's looking to be a bit faster go to Z Less!

Q: Why do you catch certain Pokemon?
A: Popplio is for Baby Doll Eyes, Zorua is to cheese the Necrozma fight, Spearow is to trade for Hawlucha, Hawlucha is the main Pokemon used for every fight.

Q: what did you use for iv stat calculations?

Q: Which route will you be using?
A: I will be using the Hawlucha solo route for this speedrun.

Q: Wait...what about Necrozma for the Elite Four?
A: Not anymore! Catching Necrozma, being forced to watch a cutscene, AND having to teach two moves just for the Elite Four is pretty slow compared to what Hawlucha can pull off. Just a lot riskier.

Q: Why do you equip Oran Berry sometimes, is the heal that useful?
A: I don't really use the Oran Berry for healing, it's more so for Hawlucha's ability Unburden. This raises his speed

Q: What is the current World Record?
A: Type !wr in chat

Q: Why are categories seperated by console?
A: There's a ton of lag and frame rate loss on the original 3DS making the New 3DS a lot faster. So in order to make it fare the leaderboards have been seperated by console.
 
Q: Why are you resetting?
A: I probably died or made a mistake.
 
Q: What stats are you looking for?
A: I'm not looking for any stats at all, just a decent start.
