What we're doing is we're playing the first three gens back to back to back in one sitting!  We start with Gold from gen 2, then move on to Sapphire from gen 3, and finally finish up with Red from gen 1.  The reason we do it in this order is so we can get rid of the most RNG heavy game first and end on a "consistent" game.  These Trifecta races will most likely be every week or every other week if all goes well!
