Pokemon Crystal FAQ
 
Q: What are you trying to do?
A: Beat Pokemon Crystal as quickly as possible without using glitches.
 
Q: What are you playing on?
A: A GameCube using a GameBoy Player.
 
Q: What is the best time?
A: 3:15 by me, according to the in-game timer.

Q: What is your goal time?
A: 3:14.

Q: Why are you resetting?
A: Probably because my Totodile's stats are bad.

Q: What stats are you looking for?
A: 12 Attack and 10 Special Attack at Lv. 5. Perfect stats are 21/13/12/10/11/10.

Q: You keep saying "DV" -- what is that?
A: DV stands for determinant value. Each Pokemon has a DV ranging from 0 to 15 for each stat. The higher the DV, the higher the growth rate for that stat. At Level 100, the difference between 0 and 15 DV is about 30 stat points. DVs help me decide which strategies to use, and I can determine them by checking my stats at certain level-ups.
 
Q: What splits are you using?
A: One of four sets of 3:14 target splits. Which set I run against depends on the route I'll use for that particular run. The most optimal route for a Crystal run depends largely on whether you caught Poliwag early, how many spinners you hit, and your DVs.

Set #1: Caught Poliwag on Falkner split, fought Pryce before Jasmine, did underground before Morty
Set #2: Caught Poliwag on Rival 4 split, fought Jasmine before Pryce, did underground before Morty
