RED/BLUE TAUROS CUSTOM STARTER For use with Red/Blue custom starter ROM developed by PoY/Arcaseriam. IPS patches can be downloaded at https://github.com/Arcaseriam/pokered-custom-starter In this route, 1/39 ranges are not shown. Just know that for every range of HP listed, there is a very small chance the attack could do 1 more HP of damage. BEGINNING Version: Red (An encounter needs to be killed for EXP somewhere around Mt. Moon. Blue version has 100% Sandshrew on Route 4, which take longer to KO.) Options: Fast/Off/Set Species: Tauros DVs: 15/15/15/15 Starter Ball: Right BROCK SPLIT Name yourself and your rival one-character names Withdraw Repels from PC, then Potion Choose the right Ball and nickname Tauros a one-character name Rival 1: Spam Tackle Use a Repel on Route 1 Do Oak's stupid fetch quest and head back to the mart Use another Repel right before the required grass coming back to Pallet Buy 3 Pokeballs and 2 Antidotes Grab the Tree Potion On Route 2 (either side), catch both a Pidgey (HM pal) and a Rattata (Tail Whip harbinger); do not nickname them Grab both Antidotes and both Potions in Viridian Forest Weedle Guy: Spam Tackle. Do not heal poison until after battle. Go to Pewter Mart and stock up on 8 more Potions; you will need them Enter the Gym and challenge Brock Brock - Geodude: Spam Tackle, heal if at 7 HP or below (Tackle does 6-7) - Onix: Use remaining Tackles and Struggle When Onix uses Bide, switch to Rat and Tail Whip until dead, then switch in Tauros If Screeched twice, switch in Pidgey and switch back to Tauros Tauros needs to get the full EXP; if Pidgey is swapped in it must be sacked eventually (Tackle does 5-6, 9-10 with crit) (Tackle w/one Screech does 9-10) (Tackle w/two Screeches does 15-17) MISTY SPLIT Visit the Pewter Center to replenish your cow Spam Tackle against all Trainers on Route 3, healing when at very low HP. If you get decent luck, you won't need to Potion at all. Tackle is a pitiful move (one might even call it bull) and I do not advise going for redbar here, or anywhere until Misty. (Shorts Guy Rattata does 5-6 with Tackle/QA) If Wrapped by Shorts Guy, heal on Wrap's first turn if it would be worth using a precious Potion Heal at the Route 4 Center because Tauros only has so many Tackles Enter Mt. Moon and use a Repel Grab the Cave Candy and Escape Rope Repel by the Lass, but don't fight her Repel again in the hallway before B2F (eliminate the turn frame) Moocket: Spam Tackle and hope things don't get too out of hand (Rat does 5-6) Moonerd: Spam Tackle. If you get disabled, sack your Rat. Choose the Helix Fossil After Repel wears off, catch a Paras as your second HM chum Kill an encounter either in Mt. Moon (preferably) or in the Route 4 grass to get Stomp for Misty Grab the TM04 item ball on Route 4 for some extra cash Go to the Cerulean Mart - Sell: TM34, TM04 - Buy: 6 Potions, 3 Repels Take the Cerulean Center Steal the poor old man's hidden Lawn Candy Throughout this whole section, heal when at low HP Rival 2: Spam Tackle. If Sand-Attacked twice by Pidgeotto (or once and Pidgeotto is within KO range), sack your rat. If you're on Rattata and you were Sand-Attacked, consider sacking your rat still (Tackle PP is precious) (Pidgeotto does 8-9, 15-17 with a crit) (Rat does 12-14 with Hyper Fang, 20-23 with a crit) Spam Tackle against the first four members of the bridge cult (3rd guy's Rat does 10-11 with Hyper Fang) Take a baby trip back to the Center and ponder why Game Freak didn't give Tauros any good moves until later on Spam Tackle against Mankey Boy and the Nugget-dealing Rocket (Mankey does 13-15 with Karate Chop crit) Fight the TOP Hiker and spam Tackle against him (Machop does 9-10 with Karate Chop crit) (Geodude does 4) Plunder his Elixir Spam Tackle against the Lass, then fight the Jr. Trainer (top, opposite the Hiker) Spam Tackle against him and the final Lass with the two Oddish (Rat does 8-10 with Hyper Fang, 15-17 with a crit) (Both Oddish do 3 with Absorb) Pick up the hidden Ether Help Bill with his predicament, then accept the S.S.
