Pokémon Yellow Any% Glitchless F.A.Q.

Q: What are you trying to accomplish?
A: I am trying to defeat the Elite Four as fast as possible.

Q: What does "Any% Glitchless" mean?
A: "Any% Glitchless" is the name of the category I am running.  The goal is to complete the game as fast as possible without any glitches.  Oversights (such as the Poké Doll) are allowed, however.

Q: What is the Best Time (BT) in this category?
A: 1:55:16 in real time by pokeguy84, on console.

Q: What is your current Personal Best (PB)?
A: 1:55:45 in real time, on console.

Q: What is your goal?
A: 1:54:xx.

Q: How are you streaming/recording your runs?
A: I use the following programs: 
	> Twitch streaming: OBS Studio
	> Game-only capture: vMix
	> Timer: LiveSplit
   I use the following hardware:
	> Capture card: GV-USB2
	> Console: GameCube w/ Game Boy Player + Game Boy Interface
	> Controller: Wii-U Smash Controller
Q: Why do you name everything "A"?
A: Naming commonly seen names one character saves frames throughout the entirety of the run.  A is just the fastest character to select.

Q: Do you use Pikachu to complete the run?
A: Do you want to watch me lose?

Q: Which Pokémon is used to complete this run?
A: Nidoking.  Nidoking has a nice overall set of stats and learns valuable moves to beat the game quickly.

Q: Why do you keep restarting the run?
A: Probably because of a bad start.

Q: Okay, but why are you saving and quitting so much?
A: That's how we manipulate things in this game.  We'll manipulate a runnable Nidoran with a YOLO ball catch, a Pidgey (or no encounters) in the forest with a YOLO ball catch, and no encounters up to the fossils in Mt. Moon.

Q: What are the stats you get for Nidoran?
A: Nidoran will have 15 DV Attack, 14 DV Speed and a combination of 8/13 HP, 9-11 Defense and 13-15 Special.

Q: What are DVs?
A: DV stands for determinant value. Each Pokemon has a DV ranging from 0 to 15 for each stat. The higher the DV, the higher the growth rate for that particular stat.

Q: What does your team look like?
A: Here is the list of all Pokémon I obtain at one point or another: 
	> Pikachu - Helps catch Nidoran.  Deposited shortly after.
	> Nidoran/Nidorino/Nidoking - Main Pokémon.
	> Pidgey - Fly slave.
	> Charmander - Dig and Cut slave.
	> Lapras - Surf and Strength slave.

Q: Why do you purposely take damage?/What is "redbar"?
A: Redbar is when you are at less than 21% health; a warning jingle plays which overwrites level-up jingles, saving chunks of time throughout a run.  While it is a risky strat, it pays dividends when it is successful.

Q: What are the hardest fights in Yellow?
A: All of them.
