Pokemon Gold/Silver Any% Glitchless FAQ

1. Why Totodile?
	Totodile is the fastest pokemon to complete the run with. The Totodile line will do all of the battling.

2. Why do you name yourself/Totodile A?
	Naming Totodile 1 character saves time. Each time his my or Totodile's name appears, each character takes one frame to show up.  This adds up over the course of the run. A is the quickest character to use.

3. What are those numbers at the bottom of the screen?
	Those are DVs or Dynamic/Determinant values. If you are familiar with IVs in gen 3 and newer, they are essentially the same thing. Each stat has a hidden value that determines the stat's growth.  Those values range from 0-15.  

4. What are you using to display the DVs?
	Type !helper in chat. It will take you to the page that explains the DV helper I use.

5. What other pokemon do you use?
	a. Cutter- Sentret/Bellsprout or possibly Sandshrew (in Gold)
	b. Flyer- Kenya, the free Spearow you receive in goldenrod city
	c. Whirlpool/Waterfall- Poliwag/Poliwhirl or in extreme cases the red Gyarados at the lake of rage.

6. Why do you keep reseting? 
	Totodile's stats probably weren't good enough.

7. Why did you reset before checking the stats?
	I probably got a female. In gen 2 games gender is determined by attack dv. The higher dvs are male, the lower are female.  Since 
	Totodile has a 1/8 chance to be female, I automatically know that she has 0 or 1 dv attack. (which isn't runnable)

8. What stats are you looking for?
	I need at least 12 attack and 10 sp.attack at level 5.  Ideally I have 13 attack, 11 sp. defense, and 10 speed.

9. What's the difference between Gold and Silver?
	Silver has better sprites (IMO), and gold can catch Sandshrew as a back up cutter in union cave.  There are a few minor text
	differences, but they are essentially the same in regards to the run. Objectively Gold is better, but the difference is 
	negligible.

10. Why are you running on Silver instead of Gold?
	I need to get a new Gold cart, and Silver has better sprites.

11. What's the difference between Gold/Silver and Crystal?

12. What's the world record for this game?
	You can check on http://www.speedrun.com/pkmngoldsilver but as of September 6, 2016 there are 2 runs better than the top run on 
	the site that are not represented there.

13. How are you playing this?
	I'm playing on a GameCube with the Game-boy player attachment and using a standard GameCube controller.  I'm using a dazzle 
	capture card in tandem with a composite splitter to display the game play on my computer and on my tv simultaneously.
