This strat is ideal under the following conditions:
- 30-31 IV +Sp. Atk
- 14+ IV Defense
- 40-46 experience entering Viridian Forest
- 1-7 HP entering Viridian Forest.

Steps:
- Skip first two forest trainers
- Bug Catcher Charlie: Ember x3 (first Metapod will live if no Blaze)
- Weedle Guy: Ember (always guaranteed)
- Pewter Mart: 6 Potions, 2 Antidotes, 3 Repels
- Fight the minion in Brock's Gym:
	> Geodude: 28 HP, 6-8 Ember (10-12 in Blaze); take 5-7 from Tackle (50% to use)
	> Sandshrew: 32 HP, 13-16 Ember (18-22 in Blaze); take 5-7 or 6-8 from Scratch (33% to use)
	> 402 exp. total (7 more than first two forest trainers)

Pros:
- Saves 20-30 seconds with good luck (5-turn fight)

Cons:
- More risk (not worth healing out of Blaze)
- Must buy 1 fewer Potion, and might use 1 more to heal off damage taken on minion
- Sometimes uses 1-2 more Embers; rarely saves any
