Sub-Optimal level up evolutions;
Route 1/Viridian Forest Bellsprout/Rattata/Pidgey
Mt Moon Centre Magikarp
Route 3/4 Ekans
Mt Moon Paras/Zubat
Route 10 Krabby
Rock Tunnel Machop/Cubone
 
Pre-Brock;
- Only catch Pika/Bulba before forest Lure
- Catch glowing Caterpie, Weedle & Bellsprout
- Catch anything you don't have to get to L10 with priority on Metapod/Kakuna, delay Rat and Pidgey unless desperate
 
Moon section;
- Always catch Ekans if seen
- Use Route 3 Lure before the Lass
- Catch Clefairy and glowing Geodude & Paras
- Skip Zubat/Chansey/Onix/Clefable on good pace
- Yolo Chansey/Onix/Clefable on bad pace
 
Route 25;
- Catch Meowth/Venonat if seen, don't wait for spawns
 
Route 5/6;
- Jump down ledges and grab Jiggly/Abra/Vulpix and consider Pidgeotto if got early Pidgey
- Use underground Lure on Route 6 if didn't get much on Route 5
- Consider getting Pidgey now if have good poke count
- Consider skipping Jigglypuff if good poke count and caught Clefairy
 
Route 9/10;
- Consider going to Route 9 to grab NidoF/NidoM if you see it on the way past
- Catch NidoF/NidoM/Spearow/Rattata if seen, can reload spawns by entering Lorelei cutscene
- Krabby/Raticate/Fearow/Nidorino/Nidorina are optional and can be difficult to catch
 
Rock Tunnel;
- Catch Zubat/Graveller/Rhyhorn
- Consider Machop/Cubone/Charmander if poke count is average
- Consider yoloing Onix/Kangaskhan if bad pace
 
Lavender Tower;
- Consider Gastly/Cubone with low poke count
- Grab Ultra Balls if need Cycling Road or Mansion pokes
 
Cycling Road;
- Lure if low poke count
- Can pick up Pidgey/Ponyta/Doduo/Psyduck
- All can be evolved in one level (Pidgey twice)
- Avoid Rapidash/Dodrio
 
South of Pallet/Mansion;
- Catch Tentacool/Koffing if low poke count
- Avoid Magmar/Ditto/Weezing if possible
- Catch Rattata if didnt get one earlier
