Focus before start of the game to get the right trainer ID that is necessary for this run. We kick off the pokemon block with Blue - RBO. For this category we will be executing a lot of glitches to allow us to beat the gyms from 8th til 1st badge. All the things we do in this run are with the purpose of setting up for the right glitches. For example I gotta name myself in a specific way here, as well as the rival. Setting options here instead of before the game, as we needed to do the trainer ID manip. Potion is necessary to survive the first fight in most of the cases. For this run we will be picking Bulbasaur, not because he's the strongest starter, he actually gets smashed by Charmander in the first fight, but we need him to setup our first glitch. 1 character name is needed for some manipulations later. I'm checking the stats out of safety to make sure if we have the correct trainer ID, and to have a peak at my Special stat. Saving for the first fight, chance to die is low with the potion, but it can happen. This fight has a lot of variance, we basically do not wanna see Growl as it lowers our attack and slows us down. We can also miss Tackle, while he cannot miss Scratch. After fight check Special again. The Special stat of bulbasaur influences the first glitch that we need to do. We need either 16 special at 7 or 16 at 8, so we try to line it up correctly and kill random encounters accordingly. There is a chance we can't get 16 Special, in that case we need to do a backup strat that also works, affected by Bulbasaur's power points. Route 1 we can get a lot of random encounters. With the special that we have we need to kill X encounters to see if we can get 16 special. Talking to Oak from the side as rival walks slow, in this way he walks less steps. Besides the correct special stat, we need a pidgey with the correct amount of HP. So I ll do a manipulation here to get a good pidgey. We can do RNG manipulation by resetting from a specific point and buffering our inputs from the reset to get the outcome we want. The frames will align the same everytime and gives us the same outcome on most saves. Forest has low encounter rate, some tiles do not give an encounter After the weedle fight we now for sure whether we have the correct special or we need to do a back up. First glitch: Brock through walls. This is the first glitch and the glitch we needed the specific Bulbasaur/Pidgey stats for. When I reset and talk to him from the right the game is not expecting this. The game would crash normally, but with the specific pokemon in my party we can walk through walls instead. We use this to go catch a very important Pokemon (Ditto) If ditto gets into the ball we know we caught it. The ball shakes normally correspond with the catch difficulty, Ditto from full health has a low catch rate, so if we wouldnt catch it, it would say the ball missed. Use escape rope to get back to Pallet. Now we need to encounter a Rattata (or Pidgey level 5) to set up our next glitches. Ditto only has the move transform, and if we transform into a pokemon with 2 moves and swap these moves around, it will make the game think we have no moves. What this does is activate the cooltrainer glitch. With CT we can corrupt the opposing pokemon and put data in it which doesnt belong there. So we can modify our catch. For the first catch, if we dont get it in first ball, it will suffer from burn til it dies. Wastes like 90 seconds. Once we set up item underflow, we can reach the game's data and modify things like map id, our position on the map and warp points. We use this level 100 Charizard to run down the gyms. The old route didnt use the cooltrainer glitch, but used a glitch where they go catch mewtwo in the same cave where we caught our Ditto. Besides this being a faster route, the Charizard itself also has some slight advantages: - Immediate redbar - No possibility of QA from pikachu
