Pokemon White 2 Challenge Mode - FAQ This is a speedrun by the way Q: What are you playing on, is it an emulator? A: Nintendo DS Q: What's your PB? A: 3:13:21 (WR) Q: What's your Goal? A: 3:12 Q: What is Challenge Mode? A: In B2W2 there are keys that are unlocked for beating the game. One of them is the Challenge Key, which unlocks Challenge Mode, a difficulty increase setting. The implementation of the difficulty scaling only directly buffs Gym Leaders/E4/Champ (one additional Pokemon each, more items, higher IVs, moves), along with a level buff to all trainers. However, the trainers stats aren't directly buffed. What this means is that even if opponent's levels appear to be buffed, it is only actually buffed in damage output if the level changed significantly enough. But it still scales up EXP gain for beating high level pokemon. Q: So what are the differences between Challenge Mode and Any% (Normal Mode)? A: Some fights get harder, others get easier. Cheren, Burgh, Elesa, Skyla, and Marlon are all harder than in Any%. However, many trainers are easier due to improved ranges, notably Vibrava, Gligar, and Golbat. You can expect times to be ~2:30-3:00 slower than Any% times due to extra pokes and more EXP and leveling up throughout the run. Q: Are there glitches in this game? A: Not any that are useful in a speedrun. This is a glitchless speedrun by default. Q: Why do you name yourself and the pokemon you catch one character? Why not Tepig? A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes. Tepig is not nicknamed because the amount of time spent displaying extra characters is not as great as the time spent initially naming the Tepig. Q: Does it matter whether you choose boy or girl? A: Nope, so I do whatever I feel like in the moment. Q: Why are you doing this Tepig + Drilbur route? A: Tepig is the best until getting to Drilbur. Excadrill is by far the best pokemon to beat the rest of the game with. Q: What else do you use/catch? A: I catch a Pidove and Psyduck. - Pidove gets Fly. - Psyduck gets Surf and Strength. Q: How do you know that you're getting x? How do you know that x is not gonna happen? A: It's all part of the RNG Manip. I know what will happen as long as I do movement correctly. Q: What are Tepig and Drilburs's stats? A: Tepig is Rash nature. IVs are 30/31/30/30/25/30. Drilbur is Adamant nature. IVs are 31/31/31/12/31/31. Q: Why is your movement so weird? A: It's because I'm manipulating RNG to get what I want. Q: Why are you resetting so early? A: Because I messed up RNG. Q: Couldn't you have just taken the death and fought x again? A: No. Q: Where can you save time? A: Expected to save time on Drilbur (2nd ball and got Dig, had to heal after), Burgh (healed twice during the fight). Probable to pick up a little bit of time on Cheren, Clay, Drayden, Marlon, and Hugh splits.
