The reason why that might be silly, is that 9 speed @L5 can still be 5/6 speed which is perfectly fine. Also, the amount of expected resets rises drastically going from minimum to good. The lab is nice, doesn't mean i want to spend my whole life in there (half of that would be fine tho). In general, good def is nice i guess, but stops mattering after Falkner split (you can just play around having bad def after abe). well Blue's arcanine uses extreme speed if def is low (i think 12+ or 13+ might be perfect, would have to check). The only stat that is worth resetting for after the lab, is ATK. I want to have at least 9/10 ATK DVs to have somewhat reasonable ranges later. There is again an argument to be made to always continue after the lab (maybe forcing higher atk if bad spd/def), but I neither want to run bad atk nor reset because of stats after abe. L6 level up: reset unless 14 -> 50% or 56.25% If we get L6 after chikorita, 14 ATK means 10+ATK DVs and if we get it through poliwag (or ater defeating anything before chikorita, that doesn't give us L7 after it) that means 9+ATK. The reason for this is that chikorita's Base ATK is 1 Point too low togive use +1 ATK on 9 ATK DVs. For reference, it has 49 Base ATK and Poliwag has 50 base ATK. Ultimately, this means the chance for runable is either 11/128 ~ 8.5938% or 99/1024 ~ 9.668%. Because of that 1 percentage, I want to stick to 3 AM strats for the chance of poliwag for exp before rival 1. Main downside is one less cutter opportunity. Current approach is reset if 11 useless encounters (encouonters - exp mons - hm mons). This should make it roughly more than 4.5% to get a run to falkner.
