White 2 Routes A breakdown of all the new strats in White 2 Any% =================Early Game================= Grotto Candy: Grotto Candy involves manipping a Rare Candy in the grotto on Route 6. This saves time over the normal route which talks to 3 clown across Castelia to pick up a Rare Candy. This net saves 25 seconds but with the pros/cons laid out here: + Can lead Pignite into Burgh and kill Swadloon (saves leading Drilbur into Burgh to immediately swap to Pignite, swapping Drilbur to first is now done after Burgh. Drilbur still needs to see Dwebble/Leavanny to get enough XP. + Skip talking to all the clowns (including the really slow one that you have to go up the elevator for) - Charles fight takes an extra turn, and the strat is as follows: - Turn 1: Metal Claw Archen, X Atk w/ Pidove, Shift - Turn 2/3: Slash Sigi (93% w/ Protein, 81% w/o) - Turn 4+: (Heal if necessary), Dig Tirtouga - You only get a menu to use the Protein if you have to heal Para in Elesa's gym outside of battle, as the candy menu after Elesa is skipped. - Small detour to get the Candy (need an extra repel from Aspertia shopping too). - Rood's Herdier hits like a truck (range to 2HKO you, Take Down Turn 1 is really bad). - Rood's Swoobat is a 1/16 (down from 10/16) - Needing a seed w/ a grotto candy makes searching requirements much stricter (less seeds available on the same day as your Tepig) Chaining Repels from Bike Menu in Castelia: If you use the Repel on the bike menu, it takes 3 to get to Drilbur. This saves 2 seconds but to get the extra repels you either need to buy 7 (8 if Grotto Candy Route) or get extended after Cheren to save 2 Repels you would otherwise use. You also need a Drilbur that you can go repeless from start to end of manip ==================Any of the strats can be combined in some way===================== Trainer Skip: Trainer skip is the process of skipping either of two simmers on Route 21 on the way to Seaside Cave and the Ranger in Seaside cave by spawning phenomenon. This requires a S+Q manip typically done inside the Himulau gym. This manip if executed well saves approximately 13 seconds compared to a run that fights Swimmer Harold and 19 compared to a run that hits the female spinning swimmer. Failing this strat costs a lot of time. If you get comfortable enough with movement on Route 21, this is one of the safer strats to go for. The missing XP/EVs only change the Scrafty in Ambush double, dropping it to ~10/16 form the standard 11-12/16. The saved EQ/IH make it so you can get Colress Elixir more consistently. PP Up Route: PP Up Route involves skipping picking up the Elixir on Route 6/7 and the Max Ether between Undella and Lacunosa in favor of picking up a PP up in Reversal Mountain right before the Reversal Double. The PP up would be used during the Village Bridge menu to increase EQ from 10 -> 12. Instead of using the Max Ether after Marlon and the Elixir around Zinzolin/Colress in Frigate 3, you use a bed heal in Frigate 2 after getting the keycard to middle-right of the stairs to restore health/PP. This makes it so that it is slightly more likely you can get up to White Kyurem without healing. PP is extremely tight during this section however, as you will have exactly 1 IH leftover with perfect PP management. More IH can be saved by using Rock Slide on Zinzolin's Cryogonals (Rock Slide Weavile is mandatory). This saves ~2 sec but only if you get a perfect Marlon, as Pidove would have to be sacked again if it died during Marlon, losing more time over the normal Any% run where Pidove would just remain dead. Lucky Egg Unequip: After Frigate 2, you can unequip the lucky egg on the fly back to Himulau in attempt to save time by not getting extra levels/xp than what is absolutely necessary. This saves ~20sec if everything optimal happens, but with the added risk: - Ghetsis Eelektross becomes a range (14-15/16) - Starmie in Victory Road becomes 15-16/16 - Skipping Swords Dance on Ambush Double is /highly/ not recommended. - The range to kill all White Kyurem with a Neutral Nature is 90% (down from 99%) - The range to kill White Kyurem if it has +DEF averages out to 54% (down from 81%) - Doing Marshal 3rd, Conkeldurr has a 71% (79% w/ 2 Protein) chance to die to IH + EQ - Doing Marshal 4th, Conkeldur has a 96.88% (100% w/ 2 Protein) chance to die to IH + EQ - EQ x2 always kills Conk regardless of order, but the IH flinch chance is too good to pass up as any death/revive is much slower than flinch - Musharna and Gothitelle are ranges on Caitlin if at +4 and Musharna uses Reflect with IH, EQ instead - Hydreigon is a favorable range to put you at lower HP than Haxorus' Earthquake min roll, would have to heal on Aggron - Otherwise you are barely above minroll range for Haxorus. Most of the time it will DD, but there's always a chance you get EQ. Taking a death on Hax is GG. Early Driftveil Center: To finish the game, you only need 16 max repels (17 if Trainer Skip) if you drop them in Opelucid. Therefore, shopping can technically be done after Clay instead of after PWT to save 4 tiles. Idk the shopping for this yet to be efficient. Buying only 16 Max Repels skips the final yes/no prompt during the E4 to reuse a repel. Himulau Center: Buying less heals lets you buy just barely enough Super Repels in the Nimbasa center to get through Frigate 2. This route also requires PP Up as described above, but instead of healing in Frigate 2 you PC heal in Himulau after the frigate instead. You also buy plenty of Full Restores and Super Repels to finish the run. From here, you can also make the decision to leave Pidove in the box (if it isn't already dead from Marlon). This shopping/heal route saves ~2sec if done optimally. If Pidove is left in the box, it saves ~20 sec at the cost of requiring to get at least 1 flinch on Marhsal, as if you get both the speed drop /and/ dead to Hammer Arm from Marhsal you will wipe. Leaving Pidove in the box is a suicide strat. Can be combined with Lucky Egg Unequip for giga cope.
