Pokemon HeartGold Kenya - FAQ This is a speedrun by the way Q: What are you playing on, is it an emulator? A: No, I play on an original DS with a capture card installed. Q: Why HeartGold? A: Bell Tower section is faster than Whirl Islands section (I don't get Rare Candy) Q: What is Kenya? A: Kenya is a gifted Spearow in Goldenrod City. This category is beating the game (beating Red) glitchless, using Kenya. Q: Stats? A: Kenya is always the same, Hasty 15/20/15-/20/20/20+. Cyndaquil is Rash 12/21/14/30+/7-/31. Q: Are there glitches in this game? A: Yes, there is tweaking, which saves a significant portion (1.5 hours, about 45% of glitchless) of the game by cutting out from Morty to Tohjo Falls, and the first 7 Kanto gym leaders if you are doing glitched speedruns. But i’m not using glitches in this category. Q: How good is Kenya? A: It's very powerful and also very limited. Normal/Flying coverage runs into issues with Steels and Rocks. Rival 3, Jasmine, Brock, Blue require assistance from Quilava (Rival 3 and Jasmine) and Snorlax (Brock and Blue). Chuck and Pryce are deadly fights. Red requires a lot of stalling in order to win. Q: Time estimate? A: About 3:49? Q: Why do you name yourself and Cyndaquil one character? A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes. Q: Why did you choose the girl instead of the boy? Are you that kind of incel gamer? A: No, the girl is faster by 8ish seconds because Lyra’s cutscene in the catching tutorial is silly. Q: Why do you choose Cyndaquil? A: I use Cyndaquil until Kenya because fast. Q: Why are you resetting? A: Most likely because I failed manip. Perfect movement is necessary to keep manip alive in most cases. Q: What do you need RNG Manipulation for? A: I use manip for encounterless, Cyndaquil stats, Pokerus, Voltorb Flip for Dratini (HM Slave) and Abra (skip a trainer via Teleport), and most importantly, to get every friendship roll possible on Cyndaquil/Quilava. This ends up being extremely necessary as you just barely reach 150 friendship after Whitney, which is how much you need to get TM27 Return. Dropping manip early means friendship rolls are 50/50s every 128 steps taken and theres a limited amount of rolls in the run before Return. If I drop manip I will have to bike around a lot (~10 per friendship roll lost for rule of thumb). Q: What else do you use/catch? A: Nothing is caught besides Snorlax. Everything else is obtained (Cyndaquil, Abra, Dratini, Kenya). Q: What are the hardest fights in the run? A: Chuck is most likely to kill my run. Then Jasmine, Pryce. Others that can suck are Red, Blaine, Surge, Brock, and Rival fights.
