Backyard Baseball speedrunning guide -Use the native game engine, not SCUMMVM. Copy the whole game disk contents to your computer, then delete BASEBALL.EXE and rename BASEBALL.W32 to BASEBALL.EXE. This allows the native Win32 engine to play on 64 bit computers. Press Shift+F5 to enter Windowed mode - helpful for streaming -Pick up games: play on Cement Gardens or Steele Stadium. Turn errors off. We don't believe pitch locator does anything, the success of a swing is determined by RNG and timing, not where you click. Turn off sounds except ambient and chatter. -Start the game and click "home" on the team card before game start to switch the AI to the away side, skipping the last half inning. -The game is very RNG heavy. Try to reset mainly over major RNG timeloss like several at bats of strikeouts with repeated fouls vs first pitch groundouts/lineouts, and more importantly focus on scoring. The fastest way to score is to have a fast runner like Pete get on base and advance+score while the other batters continue racking up outs. Home runs end up being slower as you have to wait for the ball to stop for the distance marker, but ultimately you take any run you get. -You can cancel pitch throwback animations with escape+play ball. The first use of this is a good time to swap to a pitcher with a fast windup animation and put a tall person on 1st base (the AI will still error occassionally with errors off) -There are tons of poorly documented features that affect character stats. Siblings have interactions like the Webber sisters benefiting from being on the same team. Characters play better on their birthday. These should be researched more in game code, but generally they aren't very manipulable yet. -Only change batting stance and power/bunt after the windup. Otherwise the windup is delayed each time you change stance. Open stance is good for inside pitches and closed for outside, and they also help hit curveballs. -Often when you throw to first for an out, the AI 1st baseman will stand slightly off the bag and you'll want to spam click the bag to finish the out, but only after the catch to make sure you don't force any errors. Then often once an out in the field is finished you have to click off the bag slightly and then in place again for the game to let you escape to the next batter or inning without throwing the ball back to the pitcher.
