Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Any% F.A.Q. Q: What are you trying to accomplish? A: I am trying to become the Elite Four Champion as fast as possible. Q: What does "Any%" mean? A: "Any%" is the name of the category I am running. The goal is to complete the game as fast as possible. Note that while Any% categories typically allow glitches, there are no known glitches that save time in the run. Q: What is the Best Time (BT) in this category? A: 6:18:11 in real time by wartab, on n3DS Q: What is your current Personal Best (PB)? A: 6:27:44 in real time, on o3DS. Q: What is your goal? A: Sub-6:20 Q: Why are you specifying o3DS and n3DS? A: o3DS has slower load times and more lag than n3DS, so they are considered separate categories. There is no consistent way to compare the time differences, unfortunately. Q: How are you streaming/recording your runs? A: I use the following programs: > Twitch streaming: OBS Studio > Game-only capture: 3ds_capture > Timer: LiveSplit I use the following hardware: > Console: o3DS w/ capture card installed Q: Why Ultra Moon over Ultra Sun? A: The Normal Trial favours Hawlucha more (Rattata/Raticate vs Yungoos/Gumshoos), all fights against Poipole use an X Special Defense instead of an X Defense, and the Fairy Trial gives better fights (Water/Dark vs Grass/Electric). Q: Why don't you choose the boy for the run? A: The girl loses 3-4 seconds on account of receiving the Makeup Bag, but the boy sucks. Q: Why do you set your clock to 6:00 AM? A: I honestly have no idea. Q: Why aren't you nicknaming things one-character besides yourself? Don't you normally name things? A: We're forced to name ourselves, so I pick ! since it's the fastest character to select. Text in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon is very fast, so nicknames aren't necessary. Q: Why do you keep resetting the game? A: I don't know. I shouldn't be at this point in time. Maybe I died? Q: Why do you catch [insert Pokémon here]? A: Here is a basic rundown of the entire team: > Popplio: Baby-Doll Eyes > Zorua: Illusion/Toxic stalling > Spearow: Caught only to trade > Hawlucha: Main > Poipole: Used for Totem Ribombee Q: What is a "spinner"? A: A spinner is a trainer that randomly looks in each direction. These spinning trainers cost precious time on account of extra time battling. Q: What are the hardest fights in this run? A: Teacher Emily is crazy dumb because she has the super-effective starter. Totem Togedemaru can potentially troll with Spiky Shield. Totem Mimikyu is THE hardest fight in the run, requiring a ludicrous amount of cheese to win. Ultra Necrozma is either really easy or really hard; it depends on how lucky I get. Kahili, Molayne and Hau can ruin everything with one critical. Q: Is this really the fastest way to beat the game? A: I don't know. This is far from optimized, but this is the best I have come up with thus far.
