Pokemon X/Y Any% FAQ Q: What do you play this game on? A: I play on a New 3DS XL with a capture board installed. Q: What are you trying to do? A: Beat Pokemon X and Y as fast as possible. Q: Are there any glitches used in this category? A: There are no glitches used in the run. Q: Why do you keep resetting? A: Probably because I either died or didn't get a Bunnelby or Hawlucha in a good enough time. Q: What Pokémon do you use for the run? A: I use Chespin, Farfetch'd, Hawlucha and Lucario as my main battlers, in that order. Chespin is used because it has high Attack and is a bit awkward to fight as Lucario; the traded Farfetch'd comes at a high level and can learn Swords Dance; Hawlucha beats Grant, Korrina and Ramos easily; Lucario has great stats, great moves and is given to you as part of the story. Q: Does gender affect anything like in Gen 2? A: Picking Serena instead of Calem is much safer. When you face Calem in Coumarine City, his Meowstic has a -Speed nature, which makes it more likely that Hawlucha will have that crucial speed initiative. Serena's Meowstic has a neutral Speed nature. Q: Is X faster than Y? A: It's safer when you're trying to catch Hawlucha because you find Houndour on that route in X (which are less dangerous than Electrike in Y). Q: Why are you setting the time/date? Are you using RNG manipulation? A: No. My date needs to be February/March 14th in order to get 5 Sweet Hearts in Camphrier Town instead of the usual 1, which helps increase Hawlucha's friendship level so that I can get the Lucky Egg. My time needs to be set so that I can get one massage for Hawlucha before taking on the Cyllage Gym, and another massage on the next day after getting the Cliff Badge. Q: How is the movement compared to older generations of Pokemon? A: The roller skates are an abomination. Once you get past the roller skates, the movement is quite nice! The fact that I can move diagonally is wonderful! Moving diagonally also seems to cause you to not bonk as well, so it's definitely grown on me.
