This category requires getting 180 Pokedex entries in Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire, with no restrictions on any glitches. Trading between two games is not allowed. Q: Why 180? - This is the most amount of dex entries we can possibly get on a single cartridge without trading. Without glitches, our limit would be 178 on Sapphire (or 177 on Ruby), but glitches get us to the clean 180 mark. Q: What glitches do you use? - The biggest glitch in terms of timesave is the mail glitch, which has a ton of uses, including Rare Candy/Master Ball/evolution stone duplication, skipping the currents before Sealed Chamber, catching a Mirage Island Wynaut, biking on water, entering the Safari Zone without being in "Safari mode" (normally you cannot use other Pokeballs or save and quit in the Safari Zone), and more. We also use the Lati glitch, which lets us hit the 180 catch number instead of 178. Q: What is the Lati glitch? How do you get both the Torchic and Mudkip lines? Why isn't Latias on the tracker? - The Lati glitch essentially lets you catch a single Pokemon from any battle in the Battle Tower. This works because encountering Latias/Latios only clears the first Pokemon in the enemy trainer data, meaning you can kill the Lati and the previous Pokemon from the Battle Tower will be sent out next, even though it's a wild battle. (Enemy data gets cleared if you save and quit, or find another encounter, so we do have to find Latias manually right after the Battle Tower battle.) Technically there are multiple Pokemon that you could get here that would also get you to the 180 mark, like Sceptile or Shiftry. Torchic just ends up being the fastest because you don't need to breed it, you just level it up twice and you're done. Plus it's cool to have two sets of starters :) Q: What do the colors mean on the tracker? - White means I don't have it yet, black means I've already caught/obtained it, blue means I'll get it through level up evolution, red means I'll get it through other means like breeding or stone evolution. Q: Do you have to get a living dex? - No. The ruleset just requires getting 180 Pokemon marked as "Owned" in the Pokedex.
