Battle Hall with Bidoof FAQ: Q: What is this? A: I'm attempting to get the Gold Print in the Battle Hall. You have to do the whole challenge with just 1 species of Pokemon. I'm going to try and complete it with Bidoof Q: Why? How? A: I thought about what would be the most interesting and novel Pokemon to get the Gold Print with, and Bidoof was my answer. It doesn't rely on getting wins with anything super cheap (i.e. it can't learn Endevour, or Counter, or Mirror Coat), and is weak enough that it definitely has the novelty value, but not so weak that it's basically impossible (i.e. a Magikarp), as it does at least have a decent movepool. Q: What is required to get the Gold Print in the Battle Hall? A: You have to win 170 battles in a row, with 10 battles from each type. You can freely choose which type of Pokemon to battle, and when you do it increases in "rank" until the 10th, where you can't select it anymore. As the rank increases, so too do the pool of Pokemon you'll fight within the type. Specfically; At Rank 1-2, you'll fight only Group 1 Pokemon (BST below 340) At Rank 3-5, you'll fight Group 1 or 2 Pokemon (BST below 440) At Rank 6-8 you'll fight Group 2 or 3 Pokemon (BST 340 - 499) At Rank 9-10, you'll fight Group 3 or Group 4 Pokemon (BST 440 and above) While you can only use 1 species, you can use multiple variants of the same Pokemon to complete the challenge. I will be using 10 different Bidoofs at different points, with different moves and stats in order to try and win. Q: Why are you Level 30, and why aren't they Level 30? A: I'm Level 30 because it's the lowest level you can enter at. They aren't level 30, because the levels increase throughout the challenge as well. They increase after every battle, but also for every type you start challenging, i.e. move them off rank 1. Therefore it's beneficial to leave some types as late as possible, to avoid giving that boost. Avoiding some types is balanced against the fact that the same Pokemon can't appear in the same set, and often you will want it to, and so delay doing a type you just did until the following set to try and get the same Pokemon again. Q: What are the hardest types for Bidoof? A: This is difficult to say, because some of the most problematic types are done near the beginning where the levels are lower to make them not as challenging (i.e. Electric, Poison, Fire, Ghost) So ultimately they are all done in a particular order to make them about the same. I'm definitely most likely to die right at the end though, where the levels are high and there's little to no flexibility on types to pick from. Q: How long will this take? A: Around 2.5 hours on a successful run. Q: What moves do you use on all of the Bidoofs? A: As I mentioned earlier, there are 10 different Bidoofs. I'll outline them below: A: HP Ground, Ice Beam, Swift, Shadow Ball @ Choice Specs | Modest, EVs: 8/0/0/252/0/248 | Used in Set 1, 2, 3, 15 B: HP Water, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Grass Knot @ Choice Specs | Modest, EVs: 8/0/0/240/12/248 | Used in Set 4 C: HP Water, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Swift @ Choice Specs | Modest, EVs: 8/0/0/240/12/248 | Used in Set 5, 6, 7 D: HP Fire, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Swift @ Choice Specs | Modest, EVs: 4/0/4/240/14/248 | Used in Set 8 E: Return, Superpower, Quick Attack, Substitute @ Focus Sash | Adamant, EVs: 0/252/12/0/0/244 | Used in Set 9, 10, 11 F: HP Rock, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Quick Attack @ Focus Sash | Rash, EVs: 4/0/16/252/0/232 | Used in Set 12 G: HP Bug, Return, Superpower, Quick Attack @ Focus Sash | Naughty, EVs: 20/252/52/0/0/180| Used in Set 13 H: HP Fire, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball @ Choice Specs | Modest, EVs: 8/0/0/240/12/248 | Used in Set 14 I: HP Ground, Ice Beam, Grass Knot, Quick Attack @ Focus Sash | Modest, EVs: 8/0/68/252/0/180 | Used in Set 16 J: HP Grass, Ice Beam, Grass Knot, Quick Attack @ Focus Sash | Modest, EVs: 4/0/76/240/12/176 | Used in Set 17
