Pokemon White 2 Any% - FAQ This is a speedrun by the way Q: What are you playing on, is it an emulator? A: Nintendo DS Q: What's your PB? A: 3:10:12 Q: What is your goal? A: 3:09 Q: What is Any%? A: Beating the game by any means. Q: Are there glitches in this game? A: Not any that are useful in a speedrun. This is a glitchless speedrun by default. Q: Why do you name yourself and the pokemon you catch one character? Why not Tepig? A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes. Tepig is not nicknamed because the amount of time spent displaying extra characters is not as great as the time spent initially naming the Tepig. Q: Does it matter whether you choose boy or girl? A: Nope, so I do whatever I feel like in the moment. Q: Why are you doing this Tepig + Drilbur route? A: Tepig is the best until getting to Drilbur. Excadrill is by far the best pokemon to beat the rest of the game with. Q: What else do you use/catch? A: I catch a Pidove and Psyduck. - Pidove gets Fly. - Psyduck gets Surf and Strength. Q: How do you know that you're getting x? How do you know that x is not gonna happen? A: It's all part of the RNG Manip. I know what will happen as long as I do movement correctly. Q: What are Tepig and Drilburs's stats? A: Tepig is Naughty nature. IVs are 27/30/31/30/16/25. Drilbur is Adamant nature. IVs are 31/31/31/22/31/31. Q: Why is your movement so weird? A: It's because I'm manipulating RNG to get what I want. Q: Why are you resetting so early? A: Because I messed up RNG. Q: Couldn't you have just taken the death and fought x again? A: No. Q: Where can you save time? A: Major timesaves are hard to come by in my PB now that I got good crucial fights (ie Elesa, Rood, Clay, Marlon, Marshal), but here are the main areas for improvement: Cheren + Roxie + Drilbur - (1 breakout) earlygame was pretty bad and I should be ahead every run. I didn't even hold manip past Ranch. Elesa + Clay - the potential timesave is only from 1 static, low roll Emolga, Watchog Hypnosis, and a heal on Charles. Also a menuing error. Skyla - Missed Swoobat range (so she healed) Drayden - Rev Mt. 4 turns, Healed after Rival, extra heal in triple Frigate 2 - A rather slow Double (NB: I did Lucky Egg unequip, so some splits are worse in quality but were not slow per se because of the timesave from LE Unequip) Colress - 2 Rock Slide misses E4 - Healed before Iris (2/3 or 1 death Marshal, no Will-o-Wisp Shauntal) You might hear me talking about some strats that are not always used in the run, at least not for every level of player. These have been implemented within the last year, made by minnow. Grotto candy (Integral part of the route now. Always done) Humilau skip (I pretty much always do this, with Pidove deposit going for the ~70% Marshal win, unless pace allows) Lucky Egg unequip (Cope play after Frigate 2) Trainer skip (As of now, not routed, to be implemented. Might reserve even going for this option depending on confidence in runs) There is a lot to explain for each of these. I'll just link minnow's pastebins and you can read about them in depth.
