Q: What are you playing on?
A: Actual cartridge on a Gamecube with a Gameboy Player and Gameboy Interface software with a Carby HDMI adapter using a GBA SP as a controller.

Q: Why Nidoran?
A: Nidoran is one of the few pokemon who can quickly beat Brock in Yellow, and you can get its 3rd and final evolution very early on (Mt. Moon). Nidoking also learns a large variety of TMs that help to beat the game quickly (Bubblebeam, Thunderbolt, Blizzard, Rock Slide, Horn Drill, Earthquake). Nothing else even comes close to Nidoking in this game.

Q: Why did you save and quit?
A: Saving and quitting allows for RNG manipulation. When you hard reset the game, the RNG starts at the same point every time, so as long as you do the same inputs after resetting you usually get the same results. A few things can affect this, mainly the in game time of the frame you save on can sometimes cause manipulation to fail. RNG manipulation is used to get a first encounter first ball Nidoran with god stats, a long stretch of no encounters in Viridian Forest with a first encounter first ball Pidgey at the end (for Fly), and no encounters from the start of Mt. Moon to the first fight.

Q: Why do you want low HP?
A: When you have "red bar" (<5/24 max HP) the alert sound that plays skips some other sounds such as level up jingles, death cries, and saves a frame per textbox. Having red bar for a long section can save a lot of time. It doesn't save as much time in Yellow as Red, because in Red it skips pokemon cries as well.

Q: How different is Yellow from Red?
A: They are actually quite different. Yellow has to level up Nidoran early in order to beat Brock, while Red can just use Squirtle. Yellow has no Bike Shop Instant Text. Yellow also has much harder late game fights, and a quite different late game route.

Q: How does Horn Drill always hit?
A: In gen 1 and 2, X Accuracy is programmed to cause every move to bypass the accuracy check and always hit, even if you have alrready had your accuracy lowered. X Acc + Horn Drill is used many times in the run.
