- Get more money (sell Calcium + buy 31 X Attacks, 5 X Defends, 4 X Speeds, 15 X Specials, 4 Guard Specs. and 2 Super Potions)
- Need less HP for Lavender Rival (Hyper Beam Gyarados)
- No Golbat YOLO (Hyper Beam it)
- Faster Erika (do late; generally Hyper Beam Victreebel, then can go to +2 and SP, or Overgrow RL Tangela and go for favorable Vileplume range)
- All 5 candies to L44 for Juggler
	> Switch to old exp. route if <26 Speed (26-28 is 1 Carbos), or if L49 makes a big difference for Blaine defensively
- Koga: Hyper Beam Weezing since L45, and maybe Muk too
- Get Silph candy late (skip Machoke guy)
- Sabrina: Hyper Beam Venomoth
- Blaine: +3 Hyper Beam (requires 1 heal if you tank 2 FBs, 3 heals if not because you PP stall) 
- Viridian Rival: +4; Rhyhorn just uses Take Down on the recharge turn
- Skip Double-Edge
- Lorelei: ~82-85% Lapras range, 65% Jynx range
- Bruno: Hyper Beam Machamp
- Agatha: Hyper Beam Arbok
- Champion: +3 (2HKO Pidgeot; improved Exeggutor range; have to deal with Sleep Powder and slow Rhydon/Gyarados)
