Pokemon Black Any% - FAQ This is a speedrun by the way Q: What are you playing on, is it an emulator? A: Nintendo DS Q: What's your PB? A: 3:11:23 Q: What's your Goal? A: 3:10 at least. Mid-3:10 = my run's caliber is on par with KRAM and minnow's, which would be sweet. Q: Are there glitches in this game? A: One glitch. There is a rock with no texture in Brycen's gym, and we use that to skip an intended trainer. It's more of a bug than a glitch, really. Q: Why do you name yourself and the pokemon you catch one character? Why not Snivy? A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes. Snivy is not nicknamed because the amount of time spent displaying extra characters is not as great as the time spent initially naming the Snivy. Q: Does it matter whether you choose boy or girl? A: Nope, but Hilda is much better than Herbert imo Q: Why are you doing this Snivy + Lillipup route? A: Lillipup has the edge on other routes like Tepig and Sawk. Return spam is quite good, and it gets adequate coverage in Crunch and Reversal. One of the sillier timesaves it has over Emboar is that it's weight class is lighter, and thus has a faster animation everytime it is sent out in battle. Q: What else do you use/catch? A: I catch a Pidove/Woobat for Fly. Snivy gets Cut. No other HMs are necessary to beat the game. Q: How do you know that you're getting x? How do you know that x is not gonna happen? A: It's all part of the RNG Manip. I know what will happen as long as I do movement correctly. Q: What are Snivy and Lillipup's stats? A: Snivy: Naughty 20/31/18/5/28/9 Lillipup: Adamant 30/31/31/24/31/31 Q: Why is your movement weird? A: It's because I'm manipulating RNG to get what I want. Q: Where can you save time? A: Skyla (via Plasma Skip), Dragonspiral Tower, Desert Resort, Elite Four. Q: What is "Plasma Skip"? A: Glad you asked. Plasma Skip is strat that's been theorized for the better part of 2 years now, and has finally been realized for RTA by ABTwisty and co. He made a seed searcher that can find when and where phenomena (you might know these as dust clouds in caves, shaking grass in grass, bubbles in water) will spawn. The fun part about phenomena is that if one spawns in front of a trainer, that trainer's vision will reduced to go as far as the phenomena. We can abuse this to skip many otherwise mandatory trainers in Chargestone Cave by doing a save and quit RNG manipulation. Phenomena do not go away unless you fight a trainer, pick up an item, or get an encounter, and there can only be one spawned at a time, so the fastest option ends up being to skip every other trainer. We now end up skipping 4 trainers (Grunts 1, 3, 5, and 7) to save approximately 90 seconds.
